The Waldorf Astoria luxury hotel chain spread its wings and opened a property in Amsterdam. It came with new standards regarding facilities and service. It took about four years to turn this set of six historical Amsterdam mansions into one of the most beautiful hotels this vibrant city has ever seen. As soon as you enter the lobby you are being welcomed by a very courteous staff. They will assist you with every whish possible.
We had lunch in one of their two restaurants, the Goldfinch brasserie. Here you will be welcomed for a casual lunch or dining every day of the week. The menu is just wonderful. The dishes are created with special selected ingredients and care for taste. As a special treat the restaurant serves the same fantastic wines as the hotel’s fine dining restaurant Librije’s Zusje. For fine dining the hotel has another restaurant. Two Michelin star restaurant Librije’s Zusje.
The site covers six historic town houses and is on the Unesco World heritage list. For that reason the hotel decided to respect the vast history and restore the property with the greatest attention to historical detail. Making it one of the most beautiful places in the Capital. The wonderful garden which is the biggest urban garden in Amsterdam is being saved for future generations. This means the city prohibits construction as well as serving food and drinks. But don’t worry about that, we think that makes the garden a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city! In addition the hotel is not allowed to make changes to some of the rooms which have been in the same state for hundreds of years. For example the Maurer Room. Here the walls are painted in rococo style by the Austrian artist Jacob Maurer. They depict the most wonderful images of the Italian countryside and reminisce to the Dutch Golden Age. The room can be booked for private dining. What an experience that must be!
The overall experience is exactly what you expect from Waldorf Astoria. Sheer luxury and the best service. The rooms are spacious and equipped with all necessary amenities. The rooms in the front of the hotel offer the best views and are surprisingly soundproof. The hotel’s location is also a plus. It takes just a few minutes to walk straight into the vibrant Rembrandt square.
For indulging in luxury and the best service possible we recommend you plan your next stay in Amsterdam at Waldorf Astoria.
