History
With a rich history, Grandhotel Petersberg combines glamorous tradition with new brilliance. The hotel wasn’t built as a hotel. The former guest house of the Federal Government was first opened as a hotel in 1892. In 1978 the government of the Federal Republic of Germany purchased the Petersberg to create a new official residence for state guests. After several years of planning, extensive remodelling and expansion work the Grandhotel Petersberg was first opened in 1990. Just like a castle, the striking Steigenberger Grand Hotel & Spa Petersberg stands tall over the Siebengebirge and the Rhine.
