The Saint James is the only hotel in the City of Light with official chateau status. This small & intimate hotel has 48 guestrooms, but since it’s also a private club, it has an impressive array of facilities including a Guerlain spa and a restaurant helmed by a Michelin-starred chef.
This amazing chateau was once a study room for the boarding students of the Fondation Thiers, the library-bar is now the perfect place for a quiet chat. The boudoir-style spa offers exclusive treatments formulated by the prestigious Maison Guerlain. All presented under the Relais & Châteaux umbrella in a striking chateau property in the 16th arrondissement.
The modern updates to the interiors haven’t forsaken the hotel’s history. The wallpaper depicts the hot air balloons that used to take flight from the chateau’s park, and the whimsical lights leading to the spa are shaped like balloons. New landscaping has added balloon-like arbors to the garden. Also a perfect spot for a summer meal.
In the kitchen, the Chef Jean-Luc Rocha, Best Craftsman of France (M.O.F.) wants you to discover his exquisite creations. The striking former Thiers Foundation library now hosts the best head bartender! And this is this place where amazing cocktails are a crowd-favourite. The Lobby
The Saint James’s majestic neoclassical façade can be deceiving. Step inside, and you’re now surrounded by the elegant madness of Bambi Sloan.

Here, the Second Empire meets virtually every other decorative period, with inspiration coming from everywhere, while its crowning glory, “Chandelier Chaos”, soars 14 metres overhead.

The Saint James beauty coaches combine their expertise with leading Guerlain products to offer experiences beyond the norm: Orchidée Impériale, Abeille Royale or Dédicace Guerlain: the Saint James Paris’ signature treatment. The list of treatments on offer caters to both women and men. With the elegance of a fencing studio, with its Versailles parquet and chandeliers. The area
The Saint James is in a quartier known for its concentration of museums, so take your pick. Gape at Monet’s waterlilies, sans the crowds, at the little-known Musée Marmottan, or get your fix of elegant Asian art at the Guimet. Also nearby is the Louis Vuitton Foundation housed in a striking building designed by Frank Gehry in the the Bois de Boulogne. Especially for gourmet tacos and killer cocktails (served in a hidden, speakeasy-style bar), head to Candelaria, a hot spot in the upper Marais. Burn off your croissant intake with a jog through the nearby Bois de Boulogne, the largest park in Paris. Classic Parisian sights are a short metro ride away, including the Champs-Elysées.
